TOLEDO - The Walleye surrendered three unanswered first period goals to the Solar Bears on Sunday and couldn't recover, falling in Orlando by a 6-3 count. Toledo is now 4-4-1-0 on the season.

Jared Coreau made his fourth start in goal for the Walleye. He allowed scores by Ian Slater, Mike Ullrich and David Rutherford in the first period, giving Orlando an early 3-0 lead.

The Walleye roared back in the second. Scott Arnold netted his fifth goal of the season 1:26 into the period, on an assist by Travis Novak. Six minutes later Alden Hirschfeld took advantage of a Toledo power play opportunity - using assists by Novak and Martin Frk - to score his first goal as a Walleye and pull the Fish within one.

Orlando would sustain the Walleye run, however. C..J. Severyn put the Solar Bears back in control, netting a goal with 8:08 left in the second period. The home team extended their lead to 5-2 on a score by Scott Tanski with just 48 seconds remaining before the intermission. Walleye defenseman Joe Sova would respond with Toledo's third goal 18 seconds later, but the Fish were unable to score again in the game.

Solar Bears forward David Rutherford picked up his second goal of the afternoon in the first minute of the third period to give Orlando the 6-3 win.

The Walleye and Bears will have a rematch tomorrow night in Orlando. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
