Modesto Nuts News Release

Lake Elsinore, CA. - A walk-off single sent the Modesto Nuts to a 4-3 loss in ten innings against the Lake Elsinore Storm on Wednesday night at The Diamond.

The loss officially eliminates the Nuts (31-34; 57-78) from playoff contention and snaps their season-long winning streak at five games

Logan Cozart (L, 2-6) entered the game in the tenth and surrendered a leadoff single to Ruddy Giron. He was sacrificed to second by Luis Urias and scored on a laser of a single into right by France.

In the second, the Nuts took their first lead. Max White launched a two-out, two-run homer. In the third, the Nuts added to their lead when Dom Nunez hit a line drive RBI single.

That was all the Nuts would get against the Storm (34-31; 66-69) staff that used three arms in relief that combined to toss five scoreless innings. Lake Bachar (W, 1-0) worked a perfect tenth inning with a pair of strikeouts.

Jack Wynkoop worked five innings in his start for the Nuts. He surrendered three runs on a season-high-tying nine hits. The lefty struck out four and did not walk a batter.

The finale of a three-game series against the Lake Elsinore Storm is Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 6:55 p.m. Listen live online.
