High Desert Mavericks News Release

ADELANTO, Calif. - The High Desert Mavericks, Advanced-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, are hosting a "Duel of the Desert" 4:00 P.M. charity softball game at Heritage Field on Sunday, September 11 before the start of Game 2 for the California League Southern Division Finals. The event will take place on the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy in 2001. The game will honor the men and women who serve as first responders as well as members of the military who have served our country since that date. A special tribute will be made for those first responders who recently worked tirelessly in emergency crisis around the High Desert to contain and extinguish the Pilot and Bluecut Fires. Tickets for the game are six dollars each and three dollars from EVERY ticket sold will benefit the High Desert Police Activities League Youth Programs.

"This is Minor League Baseball at its best," said General Manager Ben Hemmen. "Once the Mavericks won the first half of the Cal League South Division and our September 11 playoff game date was set, I knew our organization had an opportunity to give back to the community. All of our lives changed on 9/11 fifteen years ago. We are proud to honor those that served that day along with those that continue to serve. Our goal is to bring the High Desert together to benefit our youth so they will know how important this day is in our country's history."

donated to the Police Activities League (PAL). Business packages start at as low as $150 ($75 donated to PAL) for 15 tickets and may be used by the business or can be donated.
