High Desert Mavericks Secure 2016 Playoff Home Field Advantage

ADELANTO, Calif. - The First-Half South Division Champion High Desert Mavericks, Advanced-A © affiliate of the Texas Rangers, play their first two 2016 California League Playoff games at Heritage Field this Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11. The Mavericks placed automatically in the South Divison Finals after finishing on top in the south standings at the end of the First-Half. The team's magic number to win their fourth California League title is six.

"Your High Desert Mavericks players, coaches and staff have worked hard to secure home field advantage at Heritage Field," stated General Manager Ben Hemmen. "In our final year of professional baseball in the High Desert, we expect great crowds to come out and cheer on the Mavericks to win a championship."

On Saturday, Sept. 10, Game 1 will start at 6:35 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. After the conclusion of Saturday's game, there will be a Skyrocket Saturday FIREWORKS show. Mavericks' playoffs tickets for Saturday and throughout the entire playoffs are $6 for any seat at Heritage Field. For groups of 10 or more, tickets will be sold at $4 per ticket. Both games on Saturday and Sunday include Post-Game Jack in the Box Kids Run the Bases.

For Sunday, Sept. 11, the Mavericks are hosting a "Duel of the Desert" 4 p.m. charity softball game at Heritage Field before the start of Game 2 for the California League Southern Division Finals. San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon and Board of Supervisors Vice Chairman Robert Lovingood will lead the two teams. The day marks the 15th Anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001 and in honor of those who lost their lives, those who first responded and those who continue to serve, all tickets will be $6 with $3 of every ticket sold going to the Police Activities League of the High Desert. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. for the 4:00 p.m. "Duel of the Desert" charity softball game. First pitch for the Mavericks Sunday playoff game is slated for 5:05 p.m.

The California League South Division Finals is a best-of-5 series, with the first two games at Heritage Field and games three and four (if necessary) at the Mini-series winner. If a game five is needed, it will be hosted at Heritage Field on Wednesday, September 14 at 6:35 p.m. The best-of-3 mini-series, to determine who will play the Mavericks in the South Division Finals, starts today between the Second Half South Division Champion Lancaster JetHawks and South Division Wild Card Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
