High Desert Mavericks Announce Radio Broadcast for Final Home Games

September 16, 2016 - California League (CalL1)
High Desert Mavericks News Release

ADELANTO, Calif. - The High Desert Mavericks, Advanced-A © affiliate of the Texas Rangers, in conjunction with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, Advanced-A © affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Lake Elsinore Storm, Advanced-A © affiliate of the San Diego Padres, are teaming up to help fans in the High Desert get one final "home call" at listening to their beloved Mavericks. All California League Championship Series games will be called from a "Mavericks' perspective" by former Mavs' broadcaster and current "Voice of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes", Mike Lindskog, along with 20-year and longest tenured Cal League broadcaster, Lake Elsinore Storm's very own Sean McCall.

"Bringing the California League Championship Series to Mavericks fans over the Internet is an outstanding way to cap what has been an unforgettable 26-year run in the High Desert," said General Manager Ben Hemmen. "We're thrilled to have Mike and Sean want to help us bring Mavericks baseball to our fans during these final days. Our organization cannot thank them enough as they will share from the home team side the emotions and excitement of potentially going out on top! There are a lot of fans outside the community not able to travel to Heritage Field to join us in person. We are excited to give these fans the opportunity to listen in and be a part of Maverick's history."

The High Desert Mavericks and Visalia Rawhide, Advanced-A © affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, will continue the California League Championship Series on Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. with game three from Heritage Field in Adelanto. Game 3 and all subsequent games in the best-of-five series will be broadcast through the Mavs' website, www.hdmavs.com, via Tune-In Radio. Links will also be available through the tunein.com website and the Tune-In app on your mobile device or tablet. You'll also be able to find links to the broadcast via the Mavs' social media outlets.

"With this being the final year of High Desert Mavericks baseball, their fans deserve to hear the final games of their favorite team for the last 26 years," said Lindskog. The Brett ownership group that owns the Quakes is the group that brought the Mavs from Riverside to Adelanto back in 1991 and many of us in the organization will always have a place in our hearts for the Mavs. Being that the Mavericks have not had a radio broadcast for the last two seasons, this was an easy decision. I'm glad that Sean will join me in this Championship Series, as he's seen and probably broadcast more games in that ballpark than anyone. We're going to have a lot of fun."

"I am thrilled to be a part of an historical Cal League Championship Series," said McCall. "I certainly look forward to joining Mike on the broadcast in support of the High Desert organization and the faithful Mavericks' fans."

Mavericks' playoffs tickets can be purchased through the Heritage Field Box Office in person, at HDMavs.com or by calling 760-246-6287. The box office is open weekdays Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information on playoffs, email Shane Philipps at SPhilipps@hdmavs.com.
