Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Adelanto, CA- The High Desert Mavericks took the opener of the final regular season series in their history on Tuesday at Heritage Field with 6-4 win over the Inland Empire 66ers. The loss dropped Inland Empire to 4-18 against the Mavericks in High Desert's final season before being contracted by the California League.

High Desert (79-55, 36-28) lead 3-0 after two innings against Inland Empire starter Justin Anderson (8-11) but the Sixers got back in the contest in the third. Ryan Sebra sigled to open the inning and with two down Hutton Moyer took Mavs' starter Brett Martin deep to center to make it 3-2. It was Moyer's 13th homer of the year and the first that the switch-hitter has hit batting right-handed. The Sixers were not finished in the frame as Jared Foster walked and came home when Zach Houchins rifled a double into the right field corner to tie the game 3-3.

The Mavs took a 5-3 lead into the sixth when Jared Foster collected his second hit of the night for the 66ers (46-88, 23-41) and eventually scored on Taylor Ward's sac fly. The Sixers trailed 6-4 but that's as close as the Sixers would get as Jose Cardona hit a solo shot in the seventh, his 14th of the year to cap the scoring for the Sixers.

Cody Palmquist and Nick Gardenwine (SV, 7) combined to give the Mavs 3.2 innings of one-hit scoreless work. Jose Trevino had three hits for the Mavericks.

The series continues Wednesday at 7:05 pm. The contest can be heard live at 66ers.com and 1570 AM KPRO.
