The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes were done in by errors on Saturday night against the Spokane Indians by a final score of 4-3 in 11 innings at Avista Stadium. LeDarious Clark scored the winning run on a Miguel Gomez throwing error in the 11th.

Volcanoes pitchers did not allow a single earned run in the loss, as all four of Spokane's runs came off of errors. Ryan Halstead (1-2, 2.21 ERA) was charged with the loss while Spokane reliever Adam Choplick (3-0, 1.35 ERA) earned the win.

Clark reached first after being hit by a Halstead pitch and then would advance to second on an errant pick-off attempt to first base. Just a few pitches later, Clark stole third, and Volcanoes' catcher Gomez threw the ball wide of third base and into right field. The Indians centerfielder quickly got up and ran home to end the second straight game in the 11th inning.

The two errors were the third and fourth on the night for the Volcanoes after Chris Shaw had two miscues earlier in the game. Shaw atoned for his defensive flaws at the plate hitting his sixth home run of the season in the fourth inning and an RBI single in the eighth. The rest of the Volcanoes offense added six hits but only one RBI.

Luis Pino had another terrific pitching performance for the Volcanoes going a season long six innings and giving up zero earned runs. The bullpen had a strong outing as well for Salem-Keizer recording six strikeouts and no hits in 4 1/3 innings pitched.

Tomorrow afternoon Drew Leenhouts (6-2, 2.68 ERA) will face Cody Palmquist (2-2, 4.12 ERA) for the rubber game of this five game series. Leenhouts has won two of his last three starts while Palmquist is 1-1 in his last three contests.

First pitch is at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, making it the third day game the Volcanoes will play this season. Salem-Keizer previously won its previous two day games in Vancouver.
