Eugene Emeralds News Release

EUGENE, Ore. - Eloy Jimenez drove a sacrifice fly to right in the bottom of the 12th inning and the Eugene Emeralds snapped a three-game losing streak, defeating Everett, 4-3, on Saturday in front of 3,754 at PK Park.

The Emeralds' bullpen tossed six shutout innings with just two hits allowed to set up the walkoff extra innings win. Craig Brooks (2-0), who struck out the side in the 12th, earned the win for Eugene.

Eugene starter Adbert Alzolay was dominant through the first four innings before Everett struck for three in the fifth. He finished with three runs allowed on two hits and three walks in six innings with four strikeouts.

After being held hitless through the first four innings, Alex Bautista broke through for the Emeralds with a double to right center. He later scored on a sacrifice fly by Blake Headley. Eugene wasn't done in the fifth, however, as Donnie Dewees followed with a two-run homer to right, his fifth of the season.

Everett answered Eugene's three-run fifth with a three-run sixth. Liberato and Taylor hit back-to-back jacks with two outs in the inning. LIberato's was a two-run shot, following a walk to Drew Jackson, while Taylor hit a solo blast. Everett had a chance to take the lead in the eighth, but after loading the bases with two outs, reliever Jae-Hoon Ha forced a flyout to end the inning.

As the game went to extra innings, the Ems wasted a leadoff single in the 10th but capitalized in the 12th. Adonis Paula started the frame with a walkoff, giving way to pinch runner Kevonte Mitchell. Headley pushed Mitchell to second with a sac bunt, but the pitcher's throw to second was wide allowing both to be safe. Frandy De La Rosa hit a sharp single to left to load the bases with one out for Jimenez, who delivered with the game-winning sacrifice fly to right.
