Viza Sharp; Claws Take Series With 4-1 Win

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Tyler Viza gave up one run over six innings as the BlueClaws topped Hagerstown 4-1 on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Park.

The win was Lakewood's 4th in their last five games and they took two of three from Hagerstown in the series.

The BlueClaws broke a 1-1 tie in the 4th inning, taking the lead on an RBI single by Malquin Canelo. Canelo, playing his 6th game with Lakewood, drove in Herlis Rodriguez, who led off the inning with a triple. Carlos Tocci then tripled in Canelo and scored on a wild pitch to put the BlueClaws up 4-1.

Viza (3-11) won for the first time since April 27th. Hagerstown starter Jake Johansen (4-3) gave up all four runs (three earned) and took the loss.

After a 63 minute rain delay in the top of the 7th inning, Will Morris came on for Lakewood to get six outs. Ulises Joaquin threw a scoreless 9th inning for his sixth save of the year.

The BlueClaws head to Delmarva to open a three-game series on Friday night. RHP Julio Reyes (1-2, 3.91) throws for Lakewood opposite Delmarva RHP Nick Cunningham, who will be making his first appearance.
