(Charleston, WV- July 3, 2014)- The West Virginia Power were swept by the Hickory Crawdads 6-1 on Thursday night at Appalachian Power Park. The Crawdads blasted two home runs as Akeem Bostick shut down the Power.

The Crawdads took the early advantage when Jairo Beras tallied an RBI single in the third. Hickory added another on their eighth home run of the series with a Ryan Cordell solo blast in the seventh.

The Power cut the advantage to two with an RBI single in the seventh from Reese McGuire. However, that would be all for West Virginia as Jairo Beras blasted a three-run shot in the ninth to put the game out of reach.

Dovydas Neverauskas (4-7) was charged with the loss despite not allowing an earned run while Akeem Bostick (6-1) earned the victory. Reese McGuire singled in a run for the second straight game in the loss.

West Virginia visits the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Friday, July 4, at NewBridge Bank Park. Justin Topa will start against the Grasshoppers Sean Townsley.
