
Gnats End Homestand with a Bang Thursday

Savannah, Ga.- The Savannah Sand Gnats finished off a perfect 7-0 homestand with a 10-5 win over the Charleston RiverDogs in front of a sold-out crowd of 4,014 at Historic Grayson Stadium.
The Gnats (11-4/55-26) scored in six of their eight turns at bat and scored 26 runs in three games against the RiverDogs (3-12/36-49).
Savannah snapped a 1-1 tie and took the lead for good with two runs in the second inning for a 3-1 lead. The first run scored when second basemanJonathan Johnsondrew a bases loaded walk, the third Savannah walk in the inning.
The Gnats added a run in the fifth on aCole FrenzelRBI single into right. Frenzel finished 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and a run scored.
Up 5-1 in the seventh, the Gnats cracked the game open with a three run double by Johnson. Johnson, in his sixth game with Savannah, was 2-for-2 with two walks and four RBI.
Savannah starterAlex Panteliodisallowed just one unearned run in seven innings to lower his ERA to 2.88 and pick up his second win of the year.
The Dogs scored four runs in the ninth to make the final score a more respectable 10-5.
The Gnats head to Hickory, NC for a three game series beginningFridaynight before returning home to Historic Grayson Stadium for Kroger DollarMonday. RHP Ricky Knapp (2-5, 4.37) will take the moundFridaynight in Hickory.
