The Greensboro Grasshoppers scored single runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to take a 3-2 victory over the Lexington Legends in front of 7,129 fans Thursday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

The Legends took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Chad Johnson doubled with one out and scored on a two-out single by Alexis Rivera. Mauricio Ramos' solo homer with two outs in the bottom of the sixth gave Lexington a 2-0 margin.

The Grasshoppers got on the board in the seventh. Austin Dean singled and Felix Munoz doubled, putting runners at second and third. After Kevin Perez relieved Lexington starter Luis Rico, a wild pitch allowed Dean to score.

Greensboro tied the score in the eighth on an infield single by Yefri Perez, an errant pickoff throw by Kevin Perez, and a triple to right center field by Frankfort native and former University of Kentucky star J.T. Riddle.

With two outs and no one on base in the top of the ninth, Juan Avila struck out, but a wild pitch on strike three allowed him to reach first base. Joel Jimenez then lined a single to right center that got by center fielder Alfredo Escalera for an error, and Avila came around to score the tie-breaking run.

Ramon Del Orbe (1-1), who relieved starter Cody Crabaugh in the seventh and worked two innings, got the win. Kevin Perez (1-2) was the losing pitcher.

The Legends open a three-game series in Asheville, North Carolina Friday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
