Rome, GA - The Rome Braves (3-11) snapped their six game losing streak by defeating the Augusta GreenJackets (9-5) 6-5 on Wednesday night in walk off fashion before a crowd of 1,855.
The Braves got started early in the first on a two-run triple by Victor Caratini for the 2-0 score. Augusta cut the lead in half in the third on an RBI sacrifice fly by Rando Moreno. Rome posted three runs in the fifth on Caratini's second RBI triple of the night and a two run homer by Connor Oliver (2) for the 5-1 lead. Augusta answered in the next inning on a pair of RBI doubles by Ryder Jones and Tyler Horan and an RBI groundout by Chris Lofton to make the score 5-4.
The 5-4 score would hold until the ninth when Jeremy Sy reached on a triple and was plated by a Moreno double to tie the game 5-5. Rome would not be denied and took the win in the bottom of the ninth when Connor Lien led off the inning with a double, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Keith Curcio, and later scored on a fielder's choice grounder to first by Johan Camargo for the 6-5 victory.
Richard Tate (3-3) gets the win and Jacob Smith (1-3) is charged with the loss.
