DES MOINES, IA - Iowa snapped their two game losing streak behind a stellar outing by Brooks Raley. The Cubs defeated the Express 2-1 in game three of the four-game set at Principal Park Monday afternoon.

Raley tossed seven innings of one-run ball, surrendering just four hits and one walk while fanning five for his fourth win of the season. The southpaw recorded his second straight- third overall- quality start for Iowa (32-45).

Josh Vitters extended his hit streak to eight games with an RBI single in the first to score Alfredo Amezaga. The Cubs threatened in the second with back-to-back singles by Ty Wright and Dave Sappelt, but a strikeout him out throw him out double play cut the rally short.

Vitters added to the Cubs lead in his second at bat with a monster solo home run well beyond the wall in left. The third baseman was the only I-Cub with a multi-hit game.

Round Rock (35-42) got one run back in the fourth inning after a two-out walk came around to score on an RBI single by Yangervis Solarte. Jay Jackson struck out the side in his only inning of relief in the eighth. Rafael Dolis recorded the save tossing a scoreless ninth. Ben Snyder suffered the loss.

The Cubs will look to split the series with the Express tomorrow for another 12:05 p.m. start at Principal Park. RHP Frankie De La Cruz (1-2) will toe the rubber against LHP Martin Perez (5-5) for the finale. All the action can be heard on AM 940 with the On-Deck Circle Pre-game Show beginning at 11:35 a.m.
