Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Andrew Brown of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox and Doug Davis of the Omaha Storm Chasers were the stars of the Pacific Coast League from June 18th to 24th, and their performances earned them the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards respectively from the league office today.

Brown hit for the "Triple Crown" last week as he led the league in average (.520), home runs (3) and RBI (14) as he carried the Sky Sox to a 5-1 record, moving them past Salt Lake for second place in the Pacific Northern division. His 13 hits and 10 runs scored also topped the PCL, taking his personal hitting streak to eight games. His biggest night came on Friday versus the Bees as he had three hits, including a home run for the third night in a row, and six RBIs in Colorado Springs' 15-5 victory.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Brown was drafted in the 18th round of the 2007 draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. He batted .284 with 20 home runs for Memphis in 2011, and made his Major League debut on June 12th. Two days later he got his first hit, an RBI single off of Yunesky Maya of the Washington Nationals. In October, he was claimed off of waivers by the Colorado Rockies, and in 2012, he is batting .288 with 11 home runs and 65 RBI for the Sky Sox.

Davis pitched two great victories for Omaha, going six innings against Memphis then again in Oklahoma City. Versus the Redbirds, the southpaw allowed just four hits and one run while striking out three. Then on Sunday against the RedHawks, he was even better as he struck out six in a scoreless start. His 12.0 innings of one-run ball were good for an outstanding 0.75 ERA, accompanied by just a 1.00 WHIP to go with his 2-0 record.

Davis, born in Sacramento, California, was drafted by the Texas Rangers as a 10th round pick in 1996. A 13-year Major League veteran, he has pitched for the Rangers, Blue Jays, Brewers, Diamondbacks, and Cubs, accumulating a 4.44 ERA in 306 games. In the 2007 National League Division Series, Davis went 1-0 in two games against the Cubs, striking out 13. In May, he signed a minor league contract with the Kansas City Royals, and is 3-1 with a 3.08 ERA and 19 strikeouts with the Storm Chasers.
