Falling behind early and not being able to recover the Calgary Vipers were defeated 6-3 by the Orange County Flyers at Goodwin Field in Fullerton, California. The Vipers trailed 3-0 after the first inning and only got back within two runs after being outhit in the game 14-3. With the loss the Snakes dropped their 12 straight contest which ties a Golden Baseball League record for most consecutive losses set in the inaugural 2005 season by the traveling Samurai Bears Japanese team. The defeat also dropped Calgary's record to .500 on the season at 20-20 with three games remaining in the first half.

Erik Dessau (2-2) started and took the loss after giving up four earned runs in six innings pitched.

Orange County picked up where they left off the previous night in the bottom of the first inning as Steve Boggs and Derek Perren both singled followed by a two-run double from Jimmy Rohan and a run batted in base hit from Keith Ginter for a 3-0 lead and four consecutive hits to start the frame their night.

The Flyers added a run in the third for a 4-0 advantage when Ginter, David Harris, and Tyler Keeble all singled.

Drew Miller got that run back for Calgary in the top of the fourth frame with his team leading tenth home run for a 4-1 score.

In the bottom of the seventh inning Orange County increased their lead to four at 5-1 with a Rohan walk and a Ginter RBI double.

The Vipers got within two tallies in the eighth as Jorge Mejia walked, Luis Taveras singled, Jonny Kaplan walked to load the bases, and both Brent Metheny and Kevin Price plated runs with fielder's choices for a 5-3 score.

The Flyers got a run back in the bottom of the frame when Jim Goethals singled, advanced to second base on a groundout, and scored on a Perren RBI single for a 6-3 advantage.

On sale now the Calgary Vipers have 2nd Half Season Tickets available. Starting on July 15th the Vipers will play 27 games in Calgary at Foothills Stadium with the last contest being played on August 29th. The 2nd Half home schedule comprises of seven series against seven different teams including the Chico Outlaws, Edmonton Capitals, St. George RoadRunners, Tijuana Big Horn Sheep, Tucson Toros, Victoria Seals, and Yuma Scorpions. With the Vipers unsuccessful in winning the first half of the G.B.L. season the second half has become crucial in order to secure a 2010 postseason appearance. Packages are $360 for lower bowl seats, $240 for upper bowl seats and both include five complimentary playoff tickets.

The Vipers are on a seven day road trip which will see them play six games continuing in Orange County on Thursday July 8th at 8:05 PM MDT against the Flyers. Calgary concludes the road swing on Friday July 9th at 7:05 PM MDT and a double-header Saturday July 10th at 4:05 PM MDT against the St. George RoadRunners.

The Vipers return home to Calgary and Foothills Stadium on Thursday July 15th at 7:05 PM MDT to host the Tijuana Big Horn Sheep.
