Big Leaguers Kim, Ginter Lead Flyers: Orange County Flyers 6, Calgary Vipers 3

One night after the Flyers offense overwhelmed the Calgary Vipers, Orange County's pitching staff dominated for a 6-3 Flyers victory at Goodwin Field on Wednesday night. The Flyers improved to 18-20 while Calgary lost its GBL-record-tying 12 consecutive game to fall to 20-20.

Flyers starter Byung-Hyun Kim stifled the Vipers through five innings of working, giving up two hits one run on a homerun to Drew Miller. Kim (3-1) earned the win while striking out a pair of Vipers and walking another. Relievers Jesse Smith, Mike Koons, and Andre Simpson gave up only one hit to Calgary the rest of the way, with Simpson earning the save (7) with a scoreless ninth inning.

Keith Ginter, a Fullerton High School alum and former Major Leaguer, paced Orange County with his first 4-hit game of the season, going 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

Orange County got early offense with a three run first inning, stringing together singles by Steve Boggs and Derek Perren and a two-run double by Jimmy Rohan and a Ginter RBI single.

The Flyers send reigning GBL Pitcher of the Year Matt Durkin to the mound against Calgary on Thursday in the series finale at 7:05pm.
