Vipers Drop Back-to-Back Set to Sioux Falls

Edinburg, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (1-5), the NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, fell 124-110 to the Sioux Falls Skyforce (4-2) on Saturday night at Bert Ogden Arena.

The Vipers went on a 5-0 run to start the game, but Sioux Falls tied the quarter 10-10 with 8:34 to go. After that, the Skyforce went on a hot 10-0 run and took a 20-10 lead with 5:42 left in the quarter. The Skyforce then went on to extend its lead 39-28 to close the quarter.

Throughout the second and third quarter Sioux Falls extended its lead and sent the game into the fourth quarter with a score of 98-87. Despite the efforts of the Vipers to come back in the fourth quarter, Sioux Falls walked away with a 124-110 victory.

Houston Rockets assignee TyTy Washington Jr. led the Vipers with a double-double 25 points and 11 assists. Houston Rockets Two-Way player Darius Days also had a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Jalen Lecque posted 18 points followed by Houston Rockets Two-Way player Trevor Hudgins with 15 points and Kahlil Whitney with 12 points.

Sioux Falls was led by DJ Stewart with 32 points. Miami Heat Two-Way player Jamal Cain reached a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Dru Smith posted 17 points followed by Marcus Garrett with 13 and Mychal Mulder with 11 points.

RGV will go on a four-game trip starting on Tuesday, Jan. 10 as the team takes on the Salt Lake City Stars at 8:00 p.m. CT. Fans can stream the game via ESPN+. For more information visit www.rgvipers.com.
