The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, defeat the Windy City Bulls 109-108 on Saturday at the Now Arena.

The first quarter was a back fourth battle as neither team could gain a large lead. There was a total of three lead changes, Bulls forward Marko Simonovic put up an impressive six points and four rebounds in the first quarter. The Bulls led the Magic at the end of the first 25-21.

The Bulls took off to start the second quarter, they commanded an 11-point lead with 8:38 remaining. As 0:26 remained in the half Lakeland went on a 9-0, helping the Magic cut the 10-point lead to just one. The Bulls led 54-53 at the end of the first half.

The third quarter was all Windy City, big man Simonovic had nine points in the quarter. The Bulls had built a strong 15-point margin leading 89-74 at the end of the third.

The Bulls tried to keep the momentum going their way, but the Magic would not give up. Lakeland had come back from being down by 17 and tied things up with 4:14 remaining in the game. The Magic claimed their first lead since the first quarter with 2:40 to go and never looked back. The Magic defeated the Bulls 109-108. "Last night we led most of the game and lost in overtime. We talked about needing to provide more defensive coverage. My teammates told me I had the hot hand. I am thankful for them, we are always looking out for each other," Jay Scrubb said.

Jay Scrubb finished with a game-high 32 points for the Magic. Zavier Simpson had a double-double scoring 23 points and 10 assists.

Marko Simonovic had a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulls.

The Lakeland Magic (2-2) will face the Motor City Cruise on Monday, January 9 at the Wayne State Fieldhouse at 7:00 PM on NBAGleague.com.
