
Stars Get Back On Track With Win Against Wolves 131-114

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars snapped a three-game losing skid with a 131-114 victory over the Iowa Wolves tonight at the Maverik Center. The Stars sported Autism Awareness uniforms which will be auctioned with all proceeds to be donated to the Autism Council of Utah.
The Stars were led by forward Jeenathan Williams, who tallied 26 points on 10-of-16 (.625) shooting from the floor, registering his second 20-point game since the start of the regular season along with eight rebounds. Meanwhile, Jazz two-way player Johnny Juzang posted an impressive 24 points going 8-of-13 from the field and shooting .500 from behind the arc on 4-of-8 shooting. On assignment from the Jazz, Leandro Bolmaro posted 16 points, four rebounds and two assists. Forward Rawle Alkins added a double-double for the Stars with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Wolves were paced by Matt Lewis, who scored a game-high 30 points on 6-of-12 (.500) shooting and notched a double-double with 11 rebounds and six assists. Guard Javonte Cook added 24 pointsto go with 5 rebounds, while Tyler Hagedorn came off the bench to contribute 20 points and five rebounds.
The Stars took an early lead in the first quarter, leading by as many as 15 points at the end of the quarter (32-17). In the second frame Williams led the Stars with 12 points on 5-9 shooting, with Juzang chipping in 11 of his own as Salt Lake's offense broke down Iowa's defense. After the break the Wolves gained some momentum, trimming the Stars' lead to four. However, through foul trouble, that momentum was halted, and the Stars brought their lead up to 97-89 to end the third, thanks to a successful block by Bolmaro. The Stars surged in the fourth to grab the wire-to-wire victory 131-114.
The Stars will rematch against the Iowa Wolves in the second game of their back-to-back set Jan. 7. The game tips off at 7 p.m. (MT) at the Maverik Center and will be streamed live on NBAGLeague.com.
Signed player jerseys from tonight's Autism Awareness night will be for sale with all proceeds to be donated to the Autism Council of Utah.
