New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH- The Toronto Blue Jays have announced that right-handed pitcher Victor Zambrano will make a rehabilitation start for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A Eastern League affiliate of the Blue Jays, Thursday morning at 11:05am against the Reading Phillies at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

The Blue Jays placed Zambrano, 31, on the 15-day disabled injured list on May 10 due to a strained right forearm. The right-hander is 0-2 with a 10.97 ERA in eight appearances for Toronto, including two starts.

Zambrano made one prior rehabilitation appearance, starting for the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays of the Florida State League on May 19. He went four innings, giving up two runs and seven walks while striking out three.

Toronto signed Zambrano as a free agent during the off-season. The veteran is in his eighth major league season. Before joining the Blue Jays, he previously pitched for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays from 2001-2004 and the New York Mets from 2004-2006. Zambrano's career record is 45-43 with a 4.55 ERA.

Zambrano was originally signed by the New York Yankees in 1993 as an infielder and released in 1996. The Devil Rays picked him up on March 14, 1996 and converted him to a pitcher.
