
Jimenez's Blast Lifts Baysox To Second Straght Win, 4-3

(Bowie, MD) - Luis Jimenez has compiled at least one hit in all but one of his eight games as a Baysox, and following his 0-for-4 performance last night, Jimenez picked it up in a big way tonight. Jimenez hit his went 2-for-4 on the night and blasted his third home run in eight games, a two-run shot to center, leading the Baysox to a 4-3 win.
The Baysox struck first in the bottom of the first inning, when Paco Figueroa and Jimenez, hit back-to-back singles in the inning. Figueroa then came across to score on a Oscar Salazar sacrifice fly, putting the Baysox ahead, 1-0.
The Rock Cats would pull ahead though in the fourth inning, putting two runs on the board, one the result of a fielding error and the second on a Matt Allegra single, scoring Kyle Geiger, putting the Rock Cats ahead, 2-1.
Luis Jimenez put the Baysox ahead for good in the bottom of the sixth, with a two-run blast to center, his third of the year for a 4-2 Baysox lead.
Luke Hughes would cut the Baysox lead to one, scoring on a throwing error to first base, by Baysox short stop Luis Hernandez, making it 4-3 Baysox.
Jim Miller would come on in the ninth inning attempting to convert the save opportunity. Miller retired the side in order, getting Rashad Eldridge to ground out, Felix Molina to strike out swinging, and Trevor Plouffed to ground out ending the ballgame, picking up his second save of the season, preserving the 4-3 win.
The Baysox take on the Rock Cats in the final game of their four game series Thursday at 11:05 am. Thursday also marks the Baysox second Baseball In Education school kids day of the season. RHP Beau Hale gets the start for the Baysox opposing RHP Jesse Floyd for the Rock Cats.
