
Baysox To Host 2nd Annual Pink In The Park Day On Sunday, June 3rd

(Bowie, MD) - The Bowie Baysox, Class "AA" Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles will be hosting their second annual "Pink In The Park" day, A Women's Cancer Awareness Event - sponsored by Holy Cross Hospital, on Sunday, June 3rd when the Baysox take on the Harrisburg Senators at 2:05 pm. The first 1,000 female fans (age 6+) to enter the stadium that day will receive a free specially designed pink Baysox Logo visor, while the players will take the field in one-of-a-kind pink Baysox Jerseys.
In partnership with Holy Cross Hospital, this event is designed to bring Women's Cancer Awareness and the importance of routine check ups and exams to a public forum. Through this event, fans will receive educational information and access to area resources regarding Women's Cancer Awareness.
Prior to the game the Baysox and Holy Cross Hospital will conduct special ceremonies recognizing and honoring survivors, volunteers and doctors that have been influential in this region for their efforts with Cancer treatment, awareness and prevention. Fans are encouraged to show their support for this event by wearing their own pink apparel to the game on Sunday, June 3rd. The one-of-a-kind Pink Baysox jerseys that will be worn by the Baysox players and coaches during the game will be auctioned off to fans interested in bidding during the game. The high bidders from the auction will join the players on the field after the game and will be presented with their jersey right off the players backs following the game. Auction proceeds will benefit the Holy Cross Hospital Breast Fund.
"The Bowie Baysox, are honored to be able to work with Holy Cross Hospital for the second straight season, to use our public forum as a Minor League Baseball organization to bring attention to a very important cause." said Baysox General Manager Brian Shallcross. "We hope that by utilizing our stadium and our event to help spread the word about Cancer awareness, we can altogether make a difference in the fight for a cure."
The Inaugural "Pink In The Park" event on Sunday May 7th, 2006, sponsored by Holy Cross Hospital and Maryland Regional Cancer Care Center, helped to raise over $11,000 for the Holy Cross Hospital Breast Fund. A crowd of over 3,700 attended the first ever event last season.
