
ValleyCats Rally on the Road to Defeat Jammers 6-5

JAMESTOWN, NY - One night after having their four-game winning streak snapped with a loss to the Connecticut Tigers, the Tri-City ValleyCats got back on the winning track Wednesday, defeating the Jamestown Jammers on the road by the score of 6-5.
The 'Cats fell behind to the host Jammers early, as Jamestown pushed two runs across in the bottom of the second inning off of Tri-City starter Austin Chrismon.
However, Chrismon and the ValleyCats managed to recover from the early deficit. Tri-City first scored in the top of the third, when third baseman J.D. Davis came across home plate when first baseman A.J. Reed's ground ball was misplayed Jamestown first baseman Kevin Ross.
Three innings later, ValleyCats catcher Jamie Ritchie, and shortstop Mott Hyde, led off the sixth frame with back-to-back doubles. Hyde's double scored Ritchie to tie the game, then Hyde managed to score himself after a throwing error by Jammers reliever Jose Regalado. Reed then broke the game open with a two-out two RBI double that gave Tri-City a 5-2 lead.
Jamestown cut the lead to 5-3 when Jammers outfielder Jordan Luplow hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. But Tri-City came right back, as Hyde scored on a balk in the top of the seventh frame by Jamestown RHP Luis Urena to extend the margin to 6-3.
The host Jammers put the game in doubt when third baseman Chase Simpson hit a two-run home run off ValleyCats RHP Ryan Thompson. But Tri-City came through with the victory in the end when second baseman Nick Tanielu caught a a pop fly off the bat of Tyler Fillben, then threw to first to double off Kevin Ross, ending the game and puttiing the Cats back on the winning track.
Earning the win for Tri-City was Chrismon (3-2), who allowed only one run on four hits. RHP Brandon McNitt followed Chrisman, pitching three innings of relief, before RHP Ryan Thompson pitched the bottom of the ninth to earn his second save of the season.
The two teams will face off again tomorrow in the second game of a three-game series. RHP Joe Musgrove (1-1, 5.03)will get the start for the ValleyCats, while Jamestown's RHP Frank Duncan (0-1, 5.40) will be on the mound for the Jammers.
