Tzu-Wei Lin Head up to Portland

The Salem Red Sox have transferred INF Tzu-Wei Lin to Double-A Portland. There is no corresponding move at this time.

Lin will appear in Double-A for the first time, becoming the 12th player this season to be promoted from Salem to Portland. In 73 games with the Red Sox, he hit .281 with 12 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 34 RBI, 37 runs scored and 15 stolen bases.

He made 69 starts at shortstop, one at DH and three at second base, the first time in his career that he had played a position other than shortstop. After he spent all of 2014 with Low-A Greenville and hit .229 in 102 games, Lin leaves the Carolina League tied for tenth among qualifying players in batting average.

The Red Sox roster currently sits one below the league maximum at 24 with four players on the disabled list.
