Peterborough Petes News Release

(Peterborough, ON) - On Saturday, November 28, as part of the ongoing 60th anniversary celebrations presented by Peterborough This Week, the Peterborough Petes will welcome Petes alumnus, NHL ironman and two-time Stanley Cup champion Cory Stillman to perform the ceremonial puck drop as the Petes take on the arch-rival Oshawa Generals.

Stillman, who's career included an OHL championship with the Petes in 1993 before going on to score 727 points in 1025 games in the NHL, is helping the Petes recognize the Peterborough Minor Hockey Council (PMHC). Each of the PMHC Peterborough AAA Petes team captains will join the Petes alumnus at centre ice for the ceremony in a tribute to the strong minor hockey program in our community.

In another example of the small hockey world, Stillman's son Chase is one of the team captains that will take part in the event. His other son, Riley, a defenceman for the Oshawa Generals, will participate in the puck drop against the Petes' Logan DeNoble, yet another PMHC product.

The Petes have won five straight games including defeating the Generals in Oshawa on Friday night, with captain Eric Cornel leading the way with a natural hat trick. Great seats are still available for Saturday night's game at 7:05pm by visiting the PMC Collins Barrow Box Office online, in person (open at 1:30pm), or by calling (705) 743-3561.
