Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs picked up a big 5-2 road victory over the Central Division rival Barrie Colts Saturday night to finish off three games in three nights.
The IceDogs would get on the board first in the opening period as Johnny Corneil would snap one home on the power play to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. That would prove to be the period's lone marker as the 'Dogs headed to the intermission up one. Shots after one favoured the IceDogs 16-8.
Jordan Maletta would get the IceDogs rolling early in the second, wristing one home to make it 2-0 and then immediately following that up by roofing his second of the night in tight to give the IceDogs a 3-0 lead less than a minute into the frame. Brendan Perlini would keep things going for the IceDogs, rifling home the IceDogs third 4-on-4 goal of the period to make it a 4-0 'Dogs lead after 40 minutes. Shots after two were 29-21 Niagara.
The third period would see Barrie get on the board to make it a 4-1 game four minutes into the period. The IceDogs would answer right back however as Graham Knott would make an unbelievable play before sliding it over to Perlini who would rip home his second of the night to give the IceDogs a 5-1 lead. Barrie would get one more, but that would be as close as they would get as Moran would shit the door from there to make it a 5-2 final! Final shots were 42-30 for the visitors.
The IceDogs will now return home to St. Catharines, where they will play host to the visiting Mississauga Steelheads this Thursday, December 3rd at 7pm. Tickets for this and all other IceDogs home games are still available and can be purchased at any IceDogs ticketing location!
