Erie Otters News Release

Erie, PA - On a night where Otters fans filled the Erie Insurance Arena rink with stuffed animals, the Erie Otters filled the net with goals, taking down the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 6-3 on Saturday night.

It did not take long for the Otters to get on the offensive and score the game's first goal. Alex DeBrincat netted his league-leading 30th goal of the season just over 90 seconds into the game. After a 22 minute delay to clean the rink of stuffed animals for the Otters annual Teddy Bear Toss, play continued with the Otters leading 1-0. Sault Ste. Marie answered back later in the first period to tie the game. The goal was Bobby MacIntyre's fourth of the campaign and made the score 1-1.

Erie retook the lead in the second period courtesy of DeBrincat once again. He scored his second of the night to make it 2-1 just 1:45 into the frame. Once again, the Greyhounds battled back and tied the game at two on another goal from Bobby MacIntyre. To keep the back-and-forth theme going, the Otter's Vanya Lodnia scored his 8th of the season to pull Erie ahead again at 14:43. Instead of conceding the next goal, the Otters extended their lead thanks to Dylan Strome, who netted his 13th to make it 4-2 Erie.

In the third period, the Otters made it a three-goal advantage thanks to Kyle Maksimovich on the power play. His back hand goal gave Erie the 3-goal lead 4:09 into the third. The Greyhounds got one back at 8:18 when Colton White scored unassisted, making the score 5-3. Strome put the night to bed with an empty net goal, making it 6-3 and scoring his fifth point of the night.

The Otters continue their home-stand next Wednesday when they take on the Guelph Storm at 11 a.m.
