
Two Hitmen Named to Team WHL

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club would like to congratulate forward Carson Focht and defenceman Jett Woo on being named to Team WHL for the 2019 CIBC Canada Russia Series.
Focht is tied for the Hitmen team lead in scoring this season with 10 points (4g, 6a) in six games. The Regina, SK product had an impressive 2018-19 campaign with the Hitmen, nearly doubling his point total from the previous season to finish with 64 points (26g, 38a). He also added another nine post season points to finish tied for the team lead in playoff scoring. The 19 year-old was selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NHL Draft by the Vancouver Canucks.
Woo, a native of Winnipeg, MB, has three points (1g, 2a) including a pair of power play assists in seven games. The 19-year-old was acquired by Calgary at the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft from the Moose Jaw Warriors. He was the fifth highest scoring defenceman in the league last season registering 66 points (12g, 54a). Woo is also a Canucks prospects, selected by Vancouver in the second round of the 2018 NHL Draft.
Focht and Woo both attended Hockey Canada's Summer Development Camp this past summer in preparation for the 2020 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
The CIBC Canada Russia series opens next month with games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Ontario Hockey League before closing with a pair of games in the WHL; in Saskatoon on Wednesday, Nov. 13, and in Prince Albert on Thursday, Nov. 14.
The 4-2-1-0 Hitmen return to action on Friday, Oct. 18 at home against Moose Jaw. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome for Hometowns Heroes and RE/MAX Chuck-A-Puck.
The Hitmen will then conclude a three-game homestand on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 2:00 p.m. against Medicine Hat. It's the Diwali Celebration presented by A1 Chesney Service Experts which will feature a number of events highlighted by Bhangra dancers during the first intermission and post-game fireworks. Sunday Funday, presented by Ricky's All Day Grill is also in effect which includes face painters, concourse activities, giveaways and a post-game family skate that is FREE with a game ticket. Sunday Funday features a specially priced $9.99 ticket for kids 12 and under and a $15.99 ticket for adults (plus applicable fees and taxes).
