Swift Current Broncos News Release

Kamloops, BC - The Swift Current Broncos (2-5-0-1) couldn't solve goaltender Rayce Ramsay and were shutout for the second time this season Tuesday night, 4-0 at the hands of the Kamloops Blazers (6-4-0-0). Tonight they'll turn the page and look toward the Kelowna Rockets (5-3-1-0).

The Broncos had a number of chances to open the scoring in the first period Tuesday night as the Blazers repeatedly turned the puck over in their own zone. The shots would end 15-10 in favour of Kamloops after one, and a late goal by the Blazers.

Ryan Hughes gained the Broncos line on the left wing and sent the puck to the front of the net where Martin Lang redirected it over the glove of Reece Klassen to give the Blazers the lead with 2:40 to go in the first.

The second period was not kind to the Broncos as they were outshot 17-3 and outscored 2-0.

Orin Centazzo scored both goals, one of them on the power play, to push the Kamloops lead to 3-0 through 40 minutes.

The third saw a more even playing field, but the Broncos couldn't get one past Ramsay who turned aside all 23 shots for his first career shutout. Josh Pillar scored in the final minute to push the score to 4-0.

The Rockets meanwhile were sitting back and watching Tuesday's game as they've been off since Saturday when they hosted those same Blazers. Connor Zary had a three-point night to lift Kamloops to a 5-2 win.

The Rockets are hosting the Memorial Cup Presented by Kia this season and already have a number of offensive weapons on their roster. They've got four players in double digits for points with Pavel Novak and Kyle Topping leading the way with 11 each.

Roman Basran has carried the majority of the load for Kelowna this season, starting eight of their nine games thus far. He is 5-2-1 with a 2.22 goals against average and a .926 save percentage.
