
Two Canaries on All-Star roster

Sioux Falls, SD - Sioux Falls Canaries first baseman Abner Arroyo and catcher Dennis Anderson have been selected to represent the American Association in the July 18 All-Star Game against the Canadian-American League in El Paso, Texas. Both Arroyo and Anderson were voted starters by league managers and media representatives.
Arroyo hit .328 with eight home runs and 31 RBI in the first half of the 2006 season. Arroyo leads the American Association in doubles with 19 and extra-base hits with 28. He is second to Wil Quintana of the St. Joe Blacksnakes with a .574 batting average. Arroyo was selected as the American Association's player of the week for the week ending June 4.
Anderson was the league's top hitting catcher in the first half with a .328 average, four home runs and 21 RBI. Earlier this year, Anderson went to Spring Training with the Chicago Cubs Major League roster. The Canaries catcher has spent the past seven seasons playing in the Florida Marlins minor league organization.
The Lincoln Saltdogs' Tim Johnson will manage the American Association All-Star Team. Johnson led the Saltdogs to a league best 31-17 record during the first half.
