The Pensacola Pelicans announced today Florida's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Governor Candidate Tom Gallagher will be in attendance and throwing out the ceremonial first pitch on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 before the Pelicans game against the Sioux Falls Canaries at 6:35 p.m.

Gallagher will be on-hand after the ceremonial first pitch at 6:30 p.m. to pass out promotional items and talk with fans about his campaign.

Gallagher declared his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Governor of Florida on Wednesday, May 18, 2005. An excerpt from the campaign website reads, "He offers a conservative agenda that includes protecting our seniors and families, expanding educational opportunities, creating a strong business climate, and strengthening families."

The Tallahassee resident first became involved in politics in 1974 when he was elected to the House of Representatives. He has since held several positions in state government: Head of the Department of Professional Regulation (1987), State Treasurer (1988, 2001), Insurance Commissioner (1988), Fire Marshall (1988), Florida Commissioner of Education (1998) and the CFO of Florida (2003). Gallagher, running unopposed, was the first CFO in Florida's history.

Each Wednesday is Family Night. Fans can get four tickets, four hot dogs, four Pepsis, four Bingo Cards and four Fan Cards for only $24.
