Tulsa Oilers News Release
TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers clinched a spot in the 2015 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs on Wednesday night with a 4-2 victory over the Wichita Thunder. With two games remaining in the regular season, the Oilers can finish second, third, or fourth in the final Central Division standings. Playoff dates and times have yet to be determined.
The Oilers are holding a press conference on Monday, April 13 at 1:00 p.m. inside the BOK Center to discuss their first-round playoff opponent, home dates and times, and recap the successful regular season. All media members and fans are welcome to attend the press conference in the Grand Lobby of the BOK Center.
"I'm extremely proud of this team and what they've accomplished this season," said Oilers Head Coach, Bruce Ramsay. "To fight back the way we did in Wichita last night shows a lot of character and even though we've been battling injuries down the stretch, our players have really come together to achieve this goal. I couldn't be more proud of the effort and the commitment they've demonstrated."
The Oilers appeared in the postseason last year as a member of the Central Hockey League and will participate in the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2000 and 2001. Tulsa has 36 victories on the season, the highest win total of Ramsay's six-year tenure as Head Coach and the highest win total since the 2002-03 season.
The Oilers conclude the 72-game regular season schedule with another visit to Wichita on Friday night and a trip to Quad City on Saturday.
