Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans and Rapid City Rush met for the first of back to back games, with Allen coming out on top 3-2 in a shootout. The victory put the Americans at 102 points on the season.
The Americans jumped on the board early in the opening frame when Justin Baker fired one home from the right face-off circle for his 10th of the season and a 1-0 lead. Kyle Follmer had the assist. Allen led 15-4 in shots on goal after 20 minutes.
Allen went up 2-0 in the second on Greger Hanson's 27th of the season, from Costello and Abeltshauser at the 6:33 mark of the second period. The assist was Costello's 119th point tying him with John Spoltore, who had 119 points back in the '99-'00 season.
The Rush would cut the score in half less than 30 seconds later, when Dallas Ehrhardt fired one home right off the face-off to make it 2-1. Just over a minute later, Kale Kerbashian scored his 21st of the season to even the score at 2-2.
Neither team was able to score in the third period or overtime, so for the second time in three games the game would be decided in a shootout. Chad Costello beat Danny Battochio for the only goal in the extra session and the Americans would get the extra point and the victory, 3-2 at Allen Event Center.
The same two teams will play tomorrow night at 7:05 pm. Tickets are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com or call 972-912-1000.
