Salt Lake Bees News Release
New Orleans (Aug. 27) - The New Orleans Zephyrs scored all three of their runs in the sixth inning, as they edged the Salt Lake Bees 3-2 on Thursday night. Salt Lake grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first, as Taylor Featherston led off with a triple and scored on a ground out by Collin Cowgill. The Zephyrs opened up both the fourth and fifth innings with back-to-back singles but did not score. Salt Lake starter Nick Tropeano quickly got two outs to open the sixth before Zack Cox extended the inning with a single. Vinny Rottino walked and Isaac Galloway doubled to left to bring in Cox for the tying run. Jhonatan Soldano followed with a single to left to bring home both runners to give New Orleans a 3-1 lead.
The Bees would get one run back in the eighth, as Featherston doubled and scored on a pinch hit RBI-single by Roger Kieschnick, but the Zephyrs' bullpen kept Salt Lake off the board the rest of the way. Tropeano (3-6) took the loss, as he went five and two-third innings and allowed three runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and two walks. Featherston and Efren Navarro each had two hits to lead the Bees.
