Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
NEED TO KNOW: The Albuquerque Isotopes (58-75) shut down the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (56-76) Thursday night at Isotopes Park in the four-game series opener, taking a 3-1 victory. Rafael Ynoa went 4-for-4, and Angelys Nina extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a double in the second inning.
THE TURNING POINT: Colorado Springs plated the first run of the game after a leadoff double in the second inning, but it would be their only run of the evening. Albuquerque quickly answered with two runs in the bottom of the second. Consecutive singles from Rafael Ynoa, Trevor Story and Cristhian Adames plated the first run, while Story scored the second on a fielder's choice by Wilin Rosario. Back-to-back doubles by Angelys Nina and Ryan Casteel plated the Isotopes third run in the sixth.
YNOA WHAT I MEAN?: Infielder Rafael Ynoa posted a perfect 4-for-4 evening with a run scored and two stolen bases out of the Isotopes leadoff spot. He now has nits in 12 of his last 13 games, including seven multi- hit efforts during that span. Ynoa is 22-for-55 with eight runs scored, two doubles, a triple and four RBI in those 13 games.
SLAMMIN' NINA: Left fielder Angelys Nina extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a double in the second inning and finished the game 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored. During his streak, Nina is 19- for-53 with four runs scored, four doubles, a triple, a homer and 11 RBI. He also has five multi-hit performances during that stretch.
ENDING WITH A BANG: The Isotopes will wrap up the 2015 home season with a bang this weekend. There will a duffel bag giveaway on Friday courtesy of Miller Lite to the first 2,500 fans 21 and older. Albuquerque's annual fan appreciation weekend is Saturday and Sunday with more than $40,000 in prizes set to be given away over the weekend. There will also be post-game fireworks Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting.
ON DECK: The Isotopes and Sky Sox will play game two of their four-game series Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Eddie Butler (2-4, 6.00 ERA) is scheduled to start for Albuquerque, while Colorado Springs is slated to send right-hander Josh Roenicke (7-10, 5.96 ERA).
IN THE HOLE: After this four-game set with Oklahoma City, Albuquerque will wrap up its 2015 home slate with a four-game series against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox August 27-30. The Isotopes will conclude the 2015 season on the road with an eight-game trip to visit the Fresno Grizzlies and Sacramento River Cats.
