COLUMBUS, OHIO - Josh Bell homered as the Indianapolis Indians forced extra innings on Wednesday afternoon before falling to the Columbus Clippers in 10 innings, 3-2. The home run was Bell's second in as many games for the Tribe.

Justin Masterson (0-1) was handed the defeat despite a solid outing in his first start for Indianapolis (30-28). He went six innings and allowed just two runs on six hits. He struck out five batters, including three in the second inning on 10 pitches.

Columbus (34-25) jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the fourth inning. Ronny Rodriguez led off the frame with a double to right field, and he advanced home when Jesus Aguilar doubled one out later. Aguilar would score on Adam Moore's single to center field.

The Indians got on the board in the sixth inning when Bell clubbed a two-out home run. The solo shot was his seventh of the season, now tied with Danny Ortiz for the team lead. It came from the right side of the plate to left field, one night after he homered there as a left-handed batter.

Adam Frazier helped tie the game in the top of the eighth. Gift Ngoepe led off with a walk, and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Alen Hanson. Frazier would triple to center field to score Ngoepe, and knot the game at two.

After no further scoring, the game advanced to the tenth when Columbus emerged victorious. Guillermo Quiroz was hit by a pitch to start the frame, and he exited for pinch-runner, Bryson Miles. He would score on Rodriguez's sacrifice fly to right field that ended the game.

Shawn Armstrong (1-1) struck out two in the top of the tenth for Columbus to earn the victory.

The Indians will conclude their road trip on Thursday evening with a doubleheader against Columbus. Game one's first pitch is set for 5:35 p.m., and game two will follow approximately 30 minutes afterward. Both games will be seven innings. The Tribe returns to Victory Field on Friday to open a six-game homestand.
