Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The RailRiders out-slugged the Knights, 11-10, to snap a three-game losing skid Tuesday night at PNC Field. Jake Cave worked a bases-loaded walk in the ninth to force home Pete Kozma as the winning run.

PITCH SUN DIAL: At 3:53, Tuesday's game marked the longest nine-inning contest at PNC Field since at least 2004. The previous high-water mark in that time came on July 26, 2014 in an 8-5 loss to Pawtucket. It is SWB's longest nine-inning game overall since an 8-2 loss at Columbus on April 28, 2007 also took 3:53. The second-ever contest played by the Yankees-affiliated SWB squad at Columbus, the longtime home of the Yankees' top minor leaguers from 1979-2006, went even deeper into the night thanks to a 1:12 delay. That game started a minute early at 7:04 p.m. and did not end until 12:09 a.m. the next day.

TROUBLE AT HOME?: The RailRiders had lost three in a row at home for the first time since four consecutive defeats between two homestands from June 25-July 4, 2015. The franchise has not lost five straight at home since dropping five from July 19-23, 2013. That team lost five in a row in NEPA twice to set the RailRiders-era record.

RISPY BUSINESS: The RailRiders went 9-for-17 with men in scoring position yesterday. Over their prior 10 games, they had gone 19-for-92 (.207) with runners in prime real estate. Seven of those hits came in Friday's 10-3 win, the team's only triumph among a six-game stint before last night.

KNIGHTED: From 2005-13, SWB did not lose the season series to Charlotte at home or overall, going a composite 45-26 and 25-12 in NEPA. That has changed with a 5-10 overall mark and 2-5 home record versus the Knights between 2014 (2-6, 1-3) and 2015 (3-4, 1-2).

GUILTY AS CHARGED: Aaron Judge went 3-for-5 with an RBI, a walk and two runs scored. He has gone 9-for-19 with three doubles, four RBIs and four walks over the last five games, scoring six runs. He entered Friday night's game in a 7-for-60 (.117) slide with no extra-base hits (SLG .117), three RBIs, four walks (.206 OBP) and 21 strikeouts over his prior 16 games. His third-inning double on Friday ended an 0-for-24 drought. He leads the team with 29 RBIs and paces the squad with six outfield assists.

LORD I WAS BORN A GAMELING MAN: Ben Gamel went 2-for-4 with two walks (one intentional), two runs scored and his third outfield assist. Over his last 13 games, he has gone 17-for-53, slashing .323/.410/.453/.863. He has multiple hits in four of his last six games including three doubles.

GOING TO EXTREMES: Charlotte ranks among the IL's best in multiple offensive categories: HR (2nd, 55), SB (T-3rd, 46); and lead the league in runs scored (4.73/g), batting average (.272), on-base percentage (.341), slugging (.415) and OPS (.756). The team also ranks among the IL's worst pitching-wise: ERA (Worst, 4.90), WHIP (2nd-worst, 1.44), H/9IP (Worst, 9.7), HR (Worst, 54), K/9IP (Worst, 6.5) and K:BB ratio (2nd-worst, 1.95).
