FIRST OF THE SEASON - Yankees #3 prospect Elmer Rodríguez is set to make his season debut with the RailRiders. He made one start with the Triple-A affiliate in 2025 on September 20 at Buffalo. The righty tossed five innings of work on 83 pitches. He took the loss allowing four earned runs on eight hits with one hit batter and three strikeouts. Rodríguez was named by Baseball America as the Yankees Minor League "Player of the Year" after going 11-8 with a 2.58 ERA across three separate levels. The 23-year-old was acquired via trade from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for C Carlos Narvaez on December 11, 2024.
MISCUE MAYHEM- SWB has made an error in each of their first four games of the season. But the high came in the first game of the series against Rochester when they recorded four errors in their 5-4 loss. Despite making two on Opening Day, the team was victorious 8-0. SWB also recorded one miscues in their 5-4 win on Sunday. But the errors came to haunt them in game number three when their three flubs contributed to their first loss of the season. The team now has ten total errors on the season which is the most among all Triple-A teams.
BULLPEN BEST- The RailRiders bullpen has been lights out through the first four games. They hold a 1.13 ERA with one win and one save. The relievers have tossed 16.0 innings allowing just four runs, two earned, on nine hits. They have walked nine to their 14 strikeouts. The bullpen ERA is best in the International League and is one of just two teams allowing under two runs per nine frames.
ON THE MOVE- The team got to work on the basepaths Wednesday with three steals, their most in a single game thus far. Braden Shewmake, Jasson Domínguez and Duke Ellis all recorded a swipe to add to the team's total tally of four alongside Ernesto Martinez, Jr.
DOMÍNGUEZ DINGER - Former top prospect Jasson Domínguez began the season in Triple-A after playing the entirety of last summer in the big leagues. In four games, the switch-hitter has recorded five hits for a .294 batting average. Domínguez has also smashed his first home run of the season yesterday on just the third pitch to leadoff the ballgame. It was recorded at 108.7 miles per hour off the bat. He has driven in four while scoring a pair of his own.
VERSUS LEFTIES - The RailRiders have not seen much action at the plate against lefties so far this season. With southpaw Andrew Alvarez on the bump for Rochester, it will be the first time they face a lefty starter. So far against relievers, SWB hits .200 in just 15 at-bats. That's with three hits, no walks, and five strikeouts.
FIRST RUN OF THE GAME - SWB has plated the first run of the contest in all four games of the season. They have gone on to win just two of those matchups. In two separate games they actually scored runs in the first frame and in the other two it was the second and third innings. The RailRiders and their opponents have stayed true to the fact that whoever has the most hits in the contest is victorious.
