Columbus Clippers News Release
COLUMBUS, OH - Playing as Los Veleros for the first time this season, the Columbus Clippers treated fans to a dramatic come-from-behind 9-8 victory Thursday against visiting Indianapolis. Top prospect Travis Bazzana came up clutch with a game-winning single in the bottom of the 9th to send the fans home happy.
The night started off good for the visitors. Right-handed pitcher Pedro Avila made his debut as a member of the Clippers, giving up three runs over 3.0 innings of work. Relievers Will Dion and Jake Miller held Indy off the scoreboard for the next three frames, giving the Columbus offense time to awaken.
The comeback effort began when Nolan Jones crushed a two-run bomb to left field, his third home run of the 2026 season. It was the first hit of the night for Columbus.

Later in the inning, Milan Tolentino doubled in a run to tie the game, and Columbus took a 4-3 lead when a run came home on a groundout by Dayan Frias.
Indianapolis answered with a five-run rally in the 7th inning, pulling ahead 8-4. But the Clippers weren't done.
In the 8th, Petey Halpin stepped to the plate with a chance to tie it.
That set the stage for Bazzana's dramatic walk-off hit in the 9th. The win is the 5th straight for Columbus, and third straight in the three games they've played so far this week against Indy.
Columbus and Indianapolis meet again on Friday, when small domestic draft beers are on sale for just $5! First pitch is scheduled for 6:15pm. Tickets are available by calling 614-462-5250 or visiting the ticket section of ClippersBaseball.com.
