Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
Durham, North Carolina - Alan Rangel, Griff McGarry, Lou Trivino, and Chase Shugart combined to twirl a gem as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (5-1) shutout the Durham Bulls (1-4) by a final of 4-0 on Thursday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The only offense the 'Pigs needed came courtesy of a Garrett Stubbs three-run homer in the second inning and a Robert Moore RBI double in the fifth.
Rangel (1-0) was dominant from start to finish in his outing, striking out six while allowing just three hits and three walks. He retired nine in a row from the end of the first thru the third and got two double plays to work around the limited traffic on the bases.
McGarry worked a perfect seventh, striking out two, while Trivino danced around a leadoff double and walk in the eighth with a strikeout and double play. Shugart handled the ninth, as unbothered by a leadoff error he retired the next three, including two punchouts.
Logan Workman (0-2) took the loss for Durham, allowing all four IronPigs runs in his start.
The 'Pigs will look to make it three out of four to start the series on Friday, April 3rd as Zack Wheeler makes his second rehab outing for Lehigh Valley. Opposing him will be Brody Hopkins for Durham. First pitch is slated for 6:45 p.m.
