
Trenton Walks Off with 2-1 Win

(Trenton, NJ)- Trenton Center fielder Austin Krum had three hits and scored the game-winning run as Trenton bested New Hampshire 2-1 in 11 innings on Wednesday night from Waterfront Park. With the win, Trenton snapped a three-game losing skid. The extra-inning win was Trenton's fourth on the season, and second of the home-stand.
Krum singled with one out in the 11th inning. With two outs, Shortstop Eduardo Nunez singled to left field. Krum was running from first base on the pitch, and headed towards third base when the ball was bobbled by New Hampshire Left fielder Todd Donovan. Krum was able to score the game-winning run on the error by Donovan. Krum finished the game 3 x 5, and scored both runs on the night for the Thunder. The three-hit game was his first for the Thunder. Thunder Reliever Grant Duff (1-0) tossed two shutout innings to pick up the win in his Double-A debut. He struck out four batters. New Hampshire Reliever Celson Polanco allowed one run in 1 2/3 innings to take the loss.
Trenton took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. Krum reached base on a bunt single and advanced to second base on a stolen base. With two outs in the fram, First baseman Jorge Vazquez plated Krum with a check-swing RBI double down the right field line.
New Hampshire tied the game at 1-1 in the sixth inning. With one out in the frame, Center fielder Darin Mastroianni walked. He then stole second and third base. Designated Hitter Brian Dopirak drove Mastroianni home with an RBI groundout to tie the game 1-1. New Hampshire only had two hits in the loss. Trenton allowed only one hit to Portland on May 13th at Waterfront Park.
Trenton Starting Pitcher Wilkin De La Rosa tossed four shutout innings in his second start since being activated from the Disabled List. He received a no-decision. Trenton's bullpen combined to hurl seven innings and only allowed one run. Trenton's bullpen has tossed 30 2/3 innings in its last six games, and only allowed three total runs. New Hampshire's Starting Pitcher Rey Gonzalez went seven innings and scattered six hits. He allowed one run, and struck out four. New Hampshire had a franchise-record five stolen bases in the loss.
Trenton wraps up a three-game series against New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) on Thursday afternoon. RHP Ryan Pope (2-6, 5.40) will start for Trenton against New Hampshire RHP Kenny Rodriguez (1-0, 1.50).
