Matusz Named Organizational Pitcher Of The Month

BOWIE, Md. - Baysox left-handed starting pitcher Brian Matusz is the Baltimore Orioles Pitcher of the Month for June. Matusz went 2-0 with a 0.79 ERA in two starts for the Baysox in June, allowing one run in 11.1 innings while striking out 15. Matusz also made a start for the Frederick Keys in the month, shutting out the Salem Red Sox over 6.0 innings with six strikeouts.

Matusz is the first Baysox pitcher to win the award since Chris Tillman was named Pitcher of the Month in August 2008. Both pitchers will represent the Orioles at the 2009 XM All-Star Futures Game in St. Louis, on Sunday July 12, at 2 p.m.
