
Trenton Ends Cyclones Winning Ways, 5-1

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones entered Wednesday night with a three game winning streak, a five game unbeaten streak and an eleven game unbeaten streak (9-0-2). At the end of the night-all those items came to an end because of a 5-1 win by Trenton. Benoit Mondou and Mark Pandolfo each scored a goal and an assist for the Titans in the triumph.
Trenton opened the scoring at the 6:03 mark, when forward Benoit Mondou collected his ninth goal with assists from Mark Pandolfo and Peter Tormey. Cincinnati leveled the scores when Sam Ftorek one-timed a pass from defenseman Matt Macdonald into the Trenton net at 16:50. Scott Reynolds added the other assist on the seventh goal of the season for Ftorek. The Titans regained the lead at 18:29, when Troy Riddle netted his 12th goal of the campaign. The first period ended with Trenton on top, 2-1.
In the second frame, the Titans netted a pair of goals from Mark Pandolfo, his sixth goal of the year at 7:13 and Les Haggett, his ninth at 14:15 top push the lead out to 4-1.
A final score from Scott Bertoli in the first minute of the third period, made the score, 5-1.
The Cyclones end their upbeaten streak at eleven games. From November 16 through tonight, Cincinnati had a 9-0-2 record at U.S. Bank Arena-the longest unbeaten streak at home by any ECHL team this season.
Despite the loss the Cyclones are now 18-13-1-2, holding a three point lead over Trenton for the North Division lead. Trenton is 17-11-0-2 and moves one point ahead of Dayton for second in the North Division. The Cyclones are next in action at U.S. Bank Arena on Friday, January 12, when Toledo comes in for a 7:30pm tilt. Cincinnati has won all three games against the Storm at home this season.
