Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads announced today that the exclusive carrier of Steelheads' hockey and local ESPN radio affiliate KTIK, 1350 AM, "The Ticket, The Sports Station" will air live coverage of the 2007 RBK ECHL All-Star Game on Wednesday January 17th from Qwest Arena. The broadcast will begin at 6:50 p.m. MST and will feature a broadcast team of Mike Benton (Stockton Thunder), Mike O'Brien (Trenton Titans) and Kevin Reiter (Florida Everblades).

In other Steelheads' news, second-year goaltender Steve Silverthorn was recalled to the club's AHL affiliate, the Iowa Stars, on Tuesday. Silverthorn currently ranks second in the ECHL with 16 wins, while posting a shutout streak of 184:04 in his last three professional outings (2 AHL, 1 ECHL). The Iowa Stars are off until Friday, when they will host the Houston Aeros. The loss of Silverthorn means rookie goaltender John Daigneau will start tonight against the Phoenix RoadRunners (7:11 p.m. MST), while emergency back-up goaltender Tim Baumgartner has been signed to back up Daigneau.

Finally, on Tuesday, the Steelheads released forward Justin Johnson from his contract. Johnson has played in 10 games this season, recording one assist and 25 penalty minutes.

Don't forget, tickets are still available for the 2007 RBK ECHL All-Star Game on January 17th at Qwest Arena and can be purchased via www.idahosteelheads.com (using the all-new, print-at-home feature), by calling 331-TIXS or from the Qwest Arena box office.
