
Stingrays' Reid Named In Glas Co Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. -South Carolina center Matt
W. Reid is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 1-7,
2007.
The 28-year-old had nine points (3g-6a) as the Stingrays went 3-1-0 to
improve to 19-14-2 and move into fourth place in the South Division and
seventh place overall in the ECHL.
The 5-foot-10 and 190-pound Reid has a five-game point streak (4g-7a), one
shy of his season high six-game streak (7g-5a) from Oct. 20-29.
On Jan. 4 against Pensacola Reid scored a goal and an assist in a 6-4 win
and then on Jan. 5 scored two goals, including the game-winning goal, in a
7-2 win against Augusta. On Jan. 7 Reid tied the ECHL season high with four
assists as the Stingrays won 7-2. The four assists tied his career high set
Jan. 19, 2002 against Florida while the four points were one shy of his
season-high five points (2g-3a) on Oct. 24 against Columbia.
The Massena, N.Y. native is third on the Stingrays with 12 goals while he
is fourth on the team with 29 points and fifth with 17 assists in 24 games.
He is tied for 10th in the league with three first goals and tied for 12th
with two shorthand goals.
He played three seasons at Clarkson University and had 55 points (30g-25a)
in 103 games. He has played in the ECHL each of his seven professional
seasons and has 335 points (134g-201a) in 367 regular season games and 21
points (8g-13a) in 35 games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs with Pee Dee and
South Carolina. He has also played in the American Hockey League with
Portland and overseas with Basingstoke and Belfast.
