DAYTON, Ohio - The Cincinnati have one All-Star goaltender, but it was the one not going to the All-Star game next week that shined Tuesday night in a 3-2 win at Dayton. Dov Grumet-Morris turned aside 29 shots in picking up the victory and helping Cincinnati extend its road winning streak to three games and its unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1).
The Cyclones opened the scoring with Sam Ftorek's sixth goal of the season at 15:33. Conrad Martin and Greg Stewart added the assists. Ftorek scored on a one-timer shot from the faceoff dot to the left of Dayton's All-Star goaltender Adam Berkhoel. The Bombers outshot the Cyclones in the opening frame by an 11-6 count.
In the second period, Cyclones captain Chad Starling pumped home his first goal of the season at 13:42, with a pass from Greg Stewart leading to the score. That sent the teams to the dressing rooms after 40 minutes with Cincinnati on top, 2-0.
In the third period, Jason Deitsch scored shorthanded goal at 3:24, his 17th of the campaign from Martin , to open the edge to 3-0. Dayton got goals from Yannick Tifu and Paul Kelly. That closed the scoring and let Cincinnati emerge with a 3-2 win.
