Travis Taijeron Named Player of the Week

BINGHAMTON, NY - The Eastern League announced today that Binghamton Mets outfielder Travis Taijeron has been named the league Player of the Week for the period of July 7 to 13. Burgamy hit .400 (8-for-20) during the stretch with three home runs and ten RBI. He led the league with a .900 slugging percentage.

Taijeron highlighted his stellar week with an outpouring of run production in a four-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs. He pounded out a half-dozen hits and collected nine RBI, including a pair of four-RBI games.

Taijeron, currently in his second season with the B-Mets, was selected in the 18th round of the 2011 draft out of Cal Poly Pomona. In 68 games, he is hitting .248 with 11 home runs and 45 RBI. Since June 10, the La Mesa, California native has compiled a .718 slugging percentage, the best in the league.

Taijeron and the B-Mets (57-38) conclude their four-game visit to Erie on Monday night at 7:05 PM. RHP Gabriel Ynoa takes the hill for Binghamton against RHP Jeff Ferrell.
