Akron RubberDucks News Release
(Akron, Ohio) July 14, 2014 - With the game knotted at 2-2 in the tenth inning, Akron RubberDucks catcher Alex Lavisky launched a two-run homer to pull ahead 4-2 before a Justin Toole RBI-double followed, sealing a 5-2 victory over the Trenton Thunder Monday afternoon at Arm and Hammer Park.
The homer was Lavisky's fourth on the season and his second two-run home run. The Northeast Ohio native registered three RBI on the afternoon, the most in a single game this season for the catcher. It was his third multi-RBI game with the RubberDucks.
Today's win helped the RubberDucks take the series against Trenton. It also concludes the RubberDucks' road trip in which they won six of their eight games played.
Both teams posted a single run in the first inning. Akron's came on an RBI-single off the bat of Anthony Gallas and Trenton's run followed when designated hitter Gary Sanchez clubbed an RBI single to bring home first baseman Dan Fiorito, who reached base after being hit by a pitch.
The RubberDucks posted another run in the fifth when Lavisky doubled down the left field line, allowing Tim Fedroff to score and take a 2-1 lead.
Trenton tied the game at 2-2 in the eighth with a Francisco Arcia RBI single, forcing the game to extra innings before Lavisky untied the game for a second time, this time with his two-run homer.
EL West All-Star Joe Colon pitched the first five innings for the 'Ducks, in which he allowed four hits and one run while striking out three. Fellow All-Star Shawn Armstrong (4-1) picked up the win after finishing things off by pitching the final 1 1/3 inning and fanning two batters.

Following the two-day All-Star break, the RubberDucks will host the Erie SeaWolves as part of a four-game series at Canal Park. Akron will send RHP Will Roberts (9-9, 3.67) to the mound Thursday, while the SeaWolves' probable has yet to be announced.
