The Asheville Tourists used two home runs to build an early lead and went on to defeat the Lexington Legends 6-2 at Applebee's Park Saturday night.
The Tourists scored first when Kiel Roling hit his 13th home run of the year, a solo shot, to give Asheville a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Lexington briefly took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second when Michael Diaz walked and Steve Brown homered, his fifth of the season.
Asheville regained the lead in the third. With one out, Jimmy Cesario was hit by a pitch. Jordan Pacheco, the South Atlantic League's leading hitter at .332, tripled to center field to tie the game. Mike Zuanich followed with a home run to put Asheville in front 4-2.
The Tourists added two more in the fourth inning. David Christenson doubled to lead off, and Thomas Field hit a ground ball past third baseman Jeff Hulett for an error. Christenson scored to make it 5-2, and Field reached second. He moved to third on an infield out and came home on a sacrifice fly by Cesario to close out the scoring.
Asheville starter Dan Houston (6-8) picked up the win. Ross Seaton (8-9) was the starter and losing pitcher for Lexington.
The two teams will play the second of a four-game series Sunday afternoon at Applebee's Park. First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m.
